These responses are based on my experience:
Make sure you are counting 180 days after you get the EAD Card (based off the valid date on the EAD Card) - like my lawyer says, its USCIS and they have no clue as to what they are doing. In such an event, you will be fully covered.
You can work anywhere you want to. You can use EAD as your proof of status and eligibility to work. Note that, you should ensure that you get your EAD Card renewed very religiously. Any lapse in renewal could be effectively used against you. Oh, it is also called Work Permit and normally, the employer asks for it during filling up your I-9.
Besides that, you are not required by law to do anything more. You might get called for AOS interview where you might be asked questions about your employment (I never did). But that is just a formality. I have read in forums about filing AC21, but my lawyer said such things were optional (in my case since I joined the client from the service provider). HI,
Starting from Jan 2010 there are new rules for getting the prevailing wage info. The turn around time for this in worst case is 60 days. Do you happen to know if there is any way to expedite this.
Also do we have to go through DOL to get this info or can we use any other means.

My 140 is Approved from Company A.I haven't filed my 485 yet.
My H1 6 Yr period ends in Mar 2009.I am planning to move to company B and request a 3 yr extn based on my approved 140(with Company A).
My qn is what if company A cancels my 140?
If I get my 3yr H1 extn approved (before 140 cancellation) will my status be valid?

What can we expect next?
Dates would move forward depending on the increase in numbers.
What will happen to highly retrogressed countries like Indian, China? When can they expect any tangible results?
Depends on how much the numbers increase, whether there is any kind of per-country quota, coz if there is, then India and China would get screwed because of heavy demand from these 2 countries. CIR will start from square 1 in the next congress and would go back to the judiciary committee, Floor, conference, -- the whole process would be happening all over again.
What will happen to the “Rest of the World” category? When do you think they can expect results?
Rest of the world will be better off than India and China. Unless you are really unlucky and the demand from your country's subscribers increases and there is a separete PD for your country too, like India, China and Phillipines.
What will happen if ALL or Most of the catagories become current. Are we going to get stuck with processing delays for months or years to come ?
YES. If the dates move really really forward, -- like 2005 and 2006, the sheer number of I-485s will bury the USCIS. Expect huge delays. Unless we act on DOS to fund certain agencies we are not going to see any improvement in 485 processing times. The worst part about 485 is that USCIS alone cannot revolutionize its process and solve problems. There is the FBI name check(Dept of Justice) and also DOS involved. Our work will not end when SKIL bill passes. We would have to lobby for administrative reform to fund these agencies. FBI's namecheck division is heavily used by a lot of government and private agencies after 9/11 and they are really underfunded. We, may have to work on our issues even after SKIL bill passes. Unless of course we are really content on spending 5-6 years on EAD/AP. From what I hear, life is not really that great even on EAD/AP

While this bill or provision is very critical for ending retrogression we have a few other issues at hand in order to make the green card process smooth for our members. getting the bill passed is our first and important task. BTW FYI, it was due to IV's efforts the hard country cap for the EB category was removed from the CIR bill. With hard country caps, EB immigrants especially from India and China would have been still retrogressed. I think you're okay. Hopefully USCIS made a note in their system when your application was first sent and you just needed to correct something. Did you ask your lawyer what he thinks will happen?

I believe if your H1 expires before your I-140 approval and your PD is less than 365 days you will not get 1 year extension. If I-140 premium process reinstates that is only chance otherwise you have to take vaccation and come back.

I had a non-traffic citation few years ago, which got dismissed and expunged. I do not have any documents relating to that incidence. I don't even recall the charges. I did background check with Sheriff's office which showed no records.
How should I present this on form I-485 (question about citation/arrest)?

if you are not on his W-2, and the contract says that you are....that means he made a false contract, which should be invalid.
i think you can talk to a attorney to get more clear picture, but based on what you say....i think you shld be ok, since his initial contract was false.

I am sure many of you would agree with the below observations -
I lost money in the 2001 stock market because I believed that the market could never down based on all the glorious research reports..
I lost money again in 2005 as I bought a house believing that a house value can only go up, again reading all the real estate boom that was happening around.
Now, I keep reading that the Indian market is oh-so good that everyone should go back to India to live in the villas and ride around in the chauffeured cars:)
Hmm, as always, I have been the last one to get on the boat before it went under. So, with all pun intended, what Indian ETF should I start investing and when should I buy my one-way ticket :rolleyes:

Q1: As current market crisis, lot of companies asking to work on 1099 or on their W2 basis.
(lot of IT jobs listed for only EAD/GC ....NO H1Bs like that...became hard to find IT job with H1B ).
For getting job purpose only, can I open LLC (100% owned by wife's name) on wife's name only and can I work for my wife's company through AC21 with my EAD (I'll ask my lawer to do all necessary paper works to meet my job role and job description are same kind and meets AC21 portability) .
Q2: Lot of new companies asking to show my self incorporated LLC certificate in which my name should be displayed in order to work for them via 1099/w2 basis.
In this case, what exactly I should do to work any company in US on 1099/w2 basis?
(Assume that I already opened LLC on my wife's EAD and 100% owned, and my name

What you think , doesn't matter.
Cant fly through FRANCE/UK for sure, without a valid US visa stamped.
People had issues even with Lufthansa, but as per law on the German Consulate , a person should be able to transit through Germany. But i would avoid it.
Emirates/Direct AI/Continental should be OK from East Coast.
Alright. I did not realize that this was a case of no valid visa on passport. I cannot attest to that.
