The NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT is cool with me. It is actually based on the same chip the GeForce 7600 GT is, just with 4 Pixel Pipelines disabled. It should have been called the GeForce 7600 LE since it is closer to the 7600 than it is to the other 7300s, but whatever...

But what do you do if you need to reinstall, say, after replacing your hard disk? Without Lion restore media, you'd be forced to install Snow Leopard, then upgrade to the latest with SU, then log into the app store, then (presumably) re-download Lion, then (presumably) apply any Lion updates.
Reinstall from the bootable thumb drive or DVD that you created from the installer. (presumably)

7. Jorah: Level 2, 2 HP, 2 AP
What went down, numerically speaking, during the Goblin battle: the Goblin was level 1, and hence has 1 HP and 1 AP. The heroes, at level 1 and combined, have 7 HP and AP. The Goblin, since it has 1 AP, hit Wilmer for one point (via random.org), depleting his 1 HP, killing him. The heroes hit the Goblin for 7 AP, bringing the Goblin's HP to -6 points, killing him.

I see it now- weird, thanks!
Yeah, that threw me off too at first when installing apps from the Mac App Store in Lion. But it makes so much more sense than dumping everything in your dock.

I'm using an older PowerPC G4 and I'm proud of it :D
Another thought... if this rumor is true, wouldn't this be a great time to buy stock in ARM?
About the ARMH stock not necessarily MANY positive bullish things are already priced into the stock price. ARM is trading at a P/E Ratio of about 105 and that's AFTER a recent pullback of 10% or so. Just to put things in perspective Microsoft's P/E Ratio is about 10 Intel's is about 11 even Apple's P/E Ratio is under 17 and they have HUGE growth.
Edit: Full Disclosure I am long ARMH, MSFT, INTC, AAPL

I think Apple might update the firmware. It will appear a Mac App Store icon when user hold down the option key. Also it will allow user to put their Apple ID and choose a Wifi network. Isn't it a good idea? :D
I mean how many time you need to reinstall Mac OS lol
Mac App Store will be the fastest way to get what you want and this is the future. Disc is OVER!
Excellent idea. The OS and all your apps could be restored by simply logging in with your AppleID into the firmware. Everything downloads and you're working on a brand new installation. Throw in iCloud and all your iTunes media and other files backed up on iDisk are also restored.
I just looked at the Mac App Store application. It's only 7.4MB. That can fit comfortably on the firmware chip. If Lion alters the firmware to be able to run this app apart from the OS, a simple login would enable one to get their OS and all their apps without a disk or USB stick.

I'm not missing anything. Developers care about three things:
1. Good tools
2. A device that can run their software well.
3. A market that lets them get paid
Devs do NOT care about specs unless it prevents them from writing good software. Apple will make sure specs keep up with developer needs. Beyond that, it simply does not matter except to geeks who obsess over specs. No one else cares.
Yes, and 2. and 3. are more and more lagging behind Android in iOS. Keep ignoring the competition and keep believing "Apple will all make it work". Seems to me they are repeating their mistakes of the 80s.
As an iOS device owner and as a developer that's now invested quite some time in an app for iOS (that has yet to ship mind you), I am watching the situation closely and hoping Apple does not let iOS fall behind the competition.

Anyone think that a gig of RAM might be standard in the MBP?
It's already standard in the iMac, except the education model, and that's a "consumer" machine.

Faster or lower power CPU = hopefully something more cpu hungry in the OS.
Widgets would be nice.
Whatever the new feature is, we already know from history that it probably won't be allowed to run on older models, even if they do get the token OS version upgrade.

Companies have a right then to make money on it and Apple cannot actively try to cut off the ability of another company to make money off the Iphone legally, its called restraint of trade, a federal law.
Yes they can. There is no protection under law for making money off the ineptitude of other companies. Apple is entitled, and expected to fix bugs. When those bugs get fixed, an avenue for jail breaking gets closed. Companies that see their revenue stream dry up are just screwed. That's life.
Jail breaking happens because Apple screwed the pooch on security. That's all.

It also leaves the MBP. If it is not updated, I will likely be driven into a mad frenzy where I buy some other brand of laptop. Honestly, the things Apple is forcing me to do...
I don't see that happening this week, as much as I want a merom MBP. This Sept. 12th event is geared soley towards ipods, nanos, and especially the movie store. I'm betting nothing will be said or released concerning MBP's or MB's. I hope to god I am proven wrong though. Ultimately, as poppe has suggested on other threads, Photokina on the 26th will be the place where MBP updates will happen, as that is more of a pro event. If they don't happen by then, that's when I will beging looking at yonah MBP's.

Why in limbo? The "phone part" of the Iphone is widely acknowledged to be craptastic.
I'm a big proponent of Android, but I will admit that the music player portion isn't exactly the most user friendly. Makes me miss my 3GS.
Hopefully they redesign it a little in future iterations.

Almost EVERY cell phone that's ever existed has tracked your phone in some form of fashion and stored it on the device. This is nothing new but just because it's an iPhone it's a big deal.
People need to find other things to worry about cause this shouldn't be it.

I stated this exactly in a previous thread but I could change my stance if I could be convinced of one or more of the following were possible.
1. Could Apple improve their iChat to compete with the likes of skype, etc?
2. Could Apple provide such a service?
3. Could Apple create an iPod tele without removing what is already available in an iPod?
4. Could there be a iTel AV to connect to iChat AV.
Even if the photographer's visit was legit from the sound of it, it is an entirely new product so I'd have to assume that it was just another phone. Whomever they jump into bed with (service provider) would have to be big, really big. Another thing detracting from the story is that the telephone companies are notoriously slow getting product into their stores whereas when Apple releases something it is in store (Apple store that is) rather quickly. AND I don't see Apple selling another company's cell phone service in-store.
All I have to say is that Apple will ideally solve the voice chat market's needs, connecting us to any person with a phone or computer cheaply or for free and offering a beginner wireless to wireless service perhaps through an iPod accessory. I use Skype from my Mac to talk unlimited and free to a friend in Nederlands (also on Skype) unlimited and free because not everyone uses AIM (or has a Mac with iChat). He for example uses MSN. Adium is an example of software that unifies the IM experience and iChat is not. iChat's best features are not usable by my foreign PC using friends with other IM services like Yahoo! and MSN (which are now apparently merging). If Apple can support Microsoft Office they can surely support MSN and they already do in Address Book. So not only do they need to offer voice chat to homes but they also need to offer voice chat to EVERY modern computer/PC.
Will there be a cell phone? I was thinking maybe a walkie talkie built into an iPod.

Not. Gonna. Happen. The tablet market is very small, and for good reason. Why use a tablet when a laptop fits the bill? Or a PDA? It's a glorified scribble toy. Apple's not going to try and grab such a miniscule market. There's no reason to even try.

If Apple cannot beat them....they sue them.
Way to go Apple, you are devoid of morals and innovation.
So devoid of innovation that everyone has basically copied the iPad and iPhone's OS and product design over the last 3 1/2 years.

I would get a new iMac now if I knew that Lion would run SL pricing at $29. Otherwise I will wait for a preload. But obviously pricing and a release date won't be forthcoming prior to WWDC at the earliest. Guess we will know more in about 5 weeks.

Well that would be an awesome upgrade (having a monitor going up to 3200 x 2000!) but I will have to wait until 3rd party (NEC, EIZO) make a nice matte version later down the road.
Should make for some amazing iMac upgrades in the near future though!
